Our Latest Contest
The member suggestion of
illustrating a lyric from one of the musicals really took off and is the winner of our "choose the next theme" journal.

It seems many of you want it to be open to Hill and Yeston/Kopit's work in addition to Webber's. So be it.
Illustrate one of the elaborate stage scenes from the movie & create an alternative ending to the AWL musical once again had quite a bit of support, so they will (once again) be kept in mind for next time.
Here are dA rules:
1. No porn or R rated work. We don't know all the ages of our members and I want to keep some sanity.
2. If you do have words in your art please no curse words. We need to keep this safe for our younger viewers.
3. Please do your best and stay on theme!
4. You can submit one (1) piece of art up to one (1) month old.
5. Submissions can be entered from September 13, 2007 to October 10, 2007 (8 pm est). Voting will begin shortly thereafter. [This should leave us time for a brief Halloween contest if anyone wants to prepare for that in advance]
6. Enter by sending us a note with "contest" as the subject and containing a link to your work.
8. Acceptable Formats: Any type of art that meets the above rules is acceptable. This includes traditional, digital, photomanips, icons, comics, finger painting, interpretative dance (if you can figure a way to present it graphically), you name it. However, we are limiting entries to pictorial art, so no literature.
9. It would help if you could write a description of your creation in the box given under your picture.
10. You must be a member to enter.
11. And the most important rule: HAVE FUN!!!

OTHER OFFICIAL NEWS:
Literature
Remember that the mods have decided to start faving literature, so if any of our members have read some good phanfic here on dA
let the club know. Some basic rules for literature submissions:
1. The works must meet dA's submission policies, especially on mature works (see their policy page here:
[link]).
2. Completed works are preferred (there is nothing worse than waiting for installments that never come bec the author has tired of the story

).
3. Almost any type is acceptable: Canon, Alternate Universe, Continuations, Sequels, Crossovers, One-shots, Poetry, Vignettes, etc.
4. *Remember* We are an all age group, so either keep it clean or have the appropriate mature tag in place *and* have a sex/violence warning at the top of the submission.
5. The decision of the mods on any particular submission is final.
Thanks Everyone

+ Announced on the 9th of March there is going to be a sequel to the Broadway smash Phantom of the Opera. While Andrew Lloyd Webber didn't reveal much he did say that the new musical will be set in New York City and that he's in talks with "Phantom in Manhattan" writer Frederick Forsyth about story ideas. Here is his video announcement:

If you'd like to read more about this I found an article that sums things up:

~~~~~
+ Poll Results: Our Devious Members voted overwhelming against a second Phantom Musical based on the book
Phantom of New York. Seems like AWL may be barking up the wrong tree.
~~~~
+ We would like to ask everyone to
not "favorite" the pieces we have shown on our page. Please follow the link to the original artist's page and give them one there. Truly it's not fair for us to get their glory. So please please tell your friends and spread it around!
